Daniela Amavia

Daniela is Greek, but holds a secondary citizenship in Germany. She started her creative life at a very young age as a model for Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel and commuted between Berlin,

Frankfurt and Paris in her school holidays.

 

After growing too tall for the dance career she had been dreaming of, Daniela

started performing as an actress on stage in parts like the daughter in Ibsen’s HEDDA GABLER

and later on “Irina” in THE THREE SISTERS.

 

Daniela studied American literature and Drama and worked as a film actress in projects as varied as the art house success Abgeschminkt and the TV mini-series Children of Dune with Susan Sarandon and James McAvoy. She won the “Best New Actress” Award in Germany and  “Best Actress” at the New York Independent Film Festival for the movie The Woman Every Man Wants.

 

Daniela produced and starred in the feature film Affairs for Columbia TriStar Germany and

produced and starred in the feature film Venus & Mars with Lynn Redgrave and Julie Bowen

for Buena Vista Germany.

 

She wrote and directed the award winning short Rockin’ Good Times starring Danny Huston and

has written and developed a slate of TV series for an international TV market.

 

Daniela’s first US feature as writer/ director, a beautiful now, premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and after a limited theatrical run was licensed by Netflix US. It was shot in 18 days in Los Angeles for $ 300K. The film won a number of awards (including “Best Screenplay”) and Daniela’s script for the film was invited to join the permanent collection in the library of the Academy of Motion Pictures.

 

Currently, Daniela is in prep on her next feature film The Affairs of Léonard, slated to shoot Spring 2024 in Europe.
