When a young, Swedish bureaucrat is sent on a quest to identify eight people in his life that match a mysterious fortune teller’s card game, 

he is thrown into a wild adventure that quickly forces him to fight for his life- and his nation…

Overview: 

The year is 1791, Europe is in turmoil and  Sweden’s future is about to be put into the hands of our extremely unlikely hero: EMIL- a 20-something, superficial Swedish bureaucrat, drinker and contented bachelor. His self-satisfied life is turned upside down when he’s told by his employer that he must find a wife to remain in his position. 

Unsure how to proceed, Emil has an enigmatic fortune teller, MADAME SOFIA SPARROW,  lay an “Octavo” for him from a mysterious 16th Century German card deck. The fortune teller sends him on a quest to identify the eight people in his life that correspond with these eight cards in order to achieve  love and connection through a spiritual rebirth.

Before long it becomes apparent that those eight characters are interconnected in surprising ways, among them a treacherous aristocrat, the UZANNE, skillful with a fan (who would suspect a fan can be a weapon?), who is out to murder KING GUSTAV III and return the monarchy to the old ways, and her young companion, JOANNA BLOOM, who may or may not be Emil’s love connection. 

On his journey, Emil quickly becomes a pawn in a political minefield when it becomes apparent that his destiny is intertwined with these eight characters. 

And their actions will shape not only Emil’s future- but that of the entire nation.
