Keeping a diary noting the gruesome everyday suppression and the hateful atrocities against Jews and other minorities in Nazi Germany was life threatening for a Jew. But if he wanted to give an account of what was happening in broad daylight and while the world was watching without taking notice—and certainly no action—keeping a diary was the best way to do it. And then it was his turn to be deported.
Based on the international bestseller I WILL BEAR WITNESS: A DIARY OF THE NAZI YEARS 1933-1941 by Victor Klemperer
